MapQuest Classic

MapQuest Classic is the older version of MapQuest.com, which is one of the most popular free driving directions services online, the site has been around for a very long time, it has helped millions of users find better routes and save money by plotting accurate, easy to follow step by step driving directions on high resolution maps.

(Update: The classic maps service is no longer available, the developers of the site felt that they should focus entirely on the new site in order to make it better for all of us. At the official website you’ll be able to access the same features, plus more, such as enhanced directions with helpful tips, the ability to book hotels, cars and flights, and the ability to share maps. Other popular features such as walking and driving directions, the route planner, fuel calculator and gas prices are still available as well at the new MapQuest.com website, but if you haven’t used the new version of the site before you’ll have a hard time finding those features. If you are having problems I suggest using a search engine to find the exact page that you are looking for. So, if you were asking yourself, where did the old site go? Now you know.)

A couple of years ago AOL redesigned their map site in order to make it more user friendly and better looking. The newly redesigned site was called the “New MapQuest”, however, AOL decided to keep the older version of their incredibly popular maps site live and available on the web for everyone to use, which is the site that now everyone knows as “MapQuest Classic”.

You can use MapQuest Classic for driving directions and maps at the following url: http://classic.mapquest.com/.

i have used the old classic mapquest for years and find it was more detailed than the NEW map quest and was much more easier. I Definitely prefer the former classic mapquest.

    Thank you

  2. I agree with you Phil, the worst part is that the old site has now been completely removed!

  3. I agree w/ Phil and Richard that the old mapquest classic is much more efficient and easier to use.

  4. I agree, the Newquest is not user friendly, I prefer the Mapquest Classic.

  5. have been trying to use this new mapquest for days now and keep getting frustrated with the results, or should i say lack there of, every time i enter a street name etc i get all these persons names or stores or the like instead of getting my street.
i have been an avid user of the old mapquest but since this new one has come out i have had to refer to google maps for my results.
very dissatified with the new version

  6. Classic Map Quest was really great, especially compared to what they’ve got out there now. They did have a real winner of a website that everybody liked to use, but managed to screw it up by “improving” it. I wonder who had that brilliant idea. Now, they’ve even done away with the former Classic Map Quest altogether; there isn’t even a link for it. Too bad, so sad. MapQuest just lost another customer.

  7. Companies should always listen to their customers, Corporations are ignoring everyone lately, I think AOL’s MapQuest website will soon be out of business if they don’t at least put the old site back up. I feel the same you do Pat, and they lost me too.

  8. I agree – mapquest just lost another customer and I am so frustrated trying to find the classic site that i will NEVER return to map Quest!

  9. WOW new map quest is so BAD! Now can they think they made improvements?

New mapquest is terrible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate it!

I agree with all the above members. The SO CALLED NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION of MAPQUEST is not USER FRIENDLY; NOT AS EFFICIENT; and you can not use the map that is provided in the same manner as you use to be able to with the old mapquest. All the BELLS AND BOWS, you thought you put in your new version should have been options or buttons customers could use if they so chose to do so. Personally they have lost a lot of good customers and forced us to use a more USER FRIENDLY site.

  12. I cant stand the new mapquest, the old one was very user frendly and simple, it took less time to find what you wanted PLEASE BRING IT BACK…………

  13. Jack Rivers says

The “new and improved” MapQuest Classic is what Windows Vista is to Windows XP. It answered a question which no one had asked!

Leave your mark on life…just make certain it’s not a stain.

  14. AUDREY S. KELLEY says

I YEARN TO HAVE MY OLD CLASSIC MAPQUEST BACK. IT WAS MUCH EASIER TO USE! THE NEW ONE TAKES UP TOO MUCH OF MY TIME

  15. Bruce Schroder says

    MapQuest sucks

  16. I agree with all of you. The new map quest really sucks. What was wrong with the old one? If whoever had the great idea to change it is reading this, please change it back. Or at least give the users of map quest the option to choose which one they want to use.

  17. The New mapquest sucks. I tried it when first came out. Went back to classic. Now they have taken it away. No one likes new one, why use it. Everyone post on MapQuest site on facebook. Maybe they will listen to their customers.
