Twitter

Twitter is a free social network, and also a microblogging service that allows users to send and receive short text messages that are called “Tweets”, these messages can only be up to 140 characters long, so you actually have to learn how to really express yourself and get your point across in just a few words if you want to succeed on the site. I know it seems like yesterday, but the Twitter.com website was actually launched back in 2006, it quickly gained a lot of recognition throughout the entire world thanks to its usefulness and ease of use. The service focuses mainly on helping people connect, receive updates, and news about their favorite topics, interests, or people in real time. Most people use the site, as well as its mobile app to find out what’s going on, when it’s going on, registered members also use the service to share photos and videos, because the site offers similar functionality to popular photo and video sharing apps like Instagram, Vine, and Snapchat among several others. However, none of the apps or sites that I just mentioned can be compared, or actually compete against the likes of Twitter.com, because according to several reputable sources the most popular microblogging social networking service on the planet already has more than 500 million registered users worldwide, in fact, it was the second biggest social network right until Google+ claimed the second spot several months ago.

Twitter is one of the most visited and popular websites on earth, there’s no doubt about that, people often call it or describe it as the SMS of the internet, so everyone should be using it in order to take advantage of all the benefits that it offers. If you haven’t signed up yet, then you can read messages as an unregistered user, but if you want to post your own “Tweets”, share cool photos and videos, then you will first have to create an account for free.

Don’t forget that the service is also availabe for mobile devices through their official native apps for operating systems such as Android, iOS (iPhone, iPad, iPod), BlackBerry, etc. And through the mobile web browser version which can be found at https://mobile.twitter.com/.
